In 1559, Saint-Vivant de la Salle, a large owner of vineyards in Gascony, has distilled his first drops of brandy aged in oak casks black forest surrounding his castle. A few years later proved it and liked it so much that he gave the name of his land, Armagnac, without suspecting that it would become one of the most famous brandies of France. The terroirs de l'Armagnac, and their methods of manufacture craft, are defined by "Apellationis d'Origine Controllee" obtained in 1936. Today the festivities in honor of the Musketeer D'Artagnan, natural Casconha, overlap with his own party Armagnac
